| For instance, homeopathy has offered a theory that there are energetic terrains as well as chemical ones in the body, but homeopathic theory links these energetic terrains only to vaguely defined groups of toxins and microbes. The NES theory of Energetic Terrains goes much farther, linking specific microbes or families of microorganisms with specific tissues and providing an explanation of energetic pathology to explain how disease may develop in the body. |

If you and your doctors can't communicate well, you may be tempted to turn your back on traditional medicine and venture into the areas of alternative and complementary medicine, where instead of a physician with a medical degree, you may deal with chiropractic, naturopathic, or homeopathic physicians. Some of these kinds of treatment may indeed play a role in getting you well, but others maybe worthless, expensive, or even dangerous. Charting those troubled waters is the grist for chapter 10.
For now, though, we're going to stay focused on more traditional medicine. |

Today, the alternative-medicine industry, which includes vitamins, supplements, homeopathic remedies, and herbs, is a $46-billion-per-year business, large enough to compete with pharmaceutical companies. Sales of vitamins alone are $17 billion a year and growing because a lot of us buy into the argument that vitamins are worth the money. If you were to follow the advice of one company (Life Extension), as many do, you would spend a minimum of $7,248 per year on vitamins. |

| Oscillococcinum is another great homeopathic remedy for flu, which is also available at health-food stores and pharmacies or by calling 800-672-4556 or visiting www.oscillo.com. It can be taken at the first sign of flu.
Turkey May Prevent Colds
Turkey is a good source of glutamine, an amino acid used by cells to protect against infection. And, like other protein sources, it boosts immunity. Eat turkey often during cold season to keep protective cells functioning at their peak.

Increase your consumption of Vitamin C. Try homeopathic remedies to ease your addiction: these are easily obtainable at health food stores or pharmacies.
Enjoy the financial incentive. Just work out how much you used to spend on cigarettes each week (most people are horrified when they do). How much is that a year? That would pay for a terrific holiday, even a new car over a couple of years. Save the money you used to spend on cigarettes and give yourself a special treat. At least once a week reward yourself by buying or doing something that makes you feel good. |
| They are therefore a kind of homeopathic remedy, and are prescribed on the same principles.
The Schuessler minerals most commonly used in the treatment of asthma are potassium phosphate (kali phos), potassium chloride (kali mur), magnesium phosphate (mag phos) and sodium chloride (nat mur). Which remedy is selected depends on the particular condition, for instance whether it is bronchial asthma, nervous asthma, if it is accompanied by fever, is worse in the evening or in an overheated room.
The relevant symptoms are best assessed by an experienced practitioner. |
| Tissue salts may also be prescribed by homeopaths, and salts for asthmatic conditions are mag phos, kali phos, kali mur and nat mur. homeopathic remedies are available from some pharmacies, and from practitioners.
Homeopathy was popular in the nineteenth century, but as orthodox medicine began to have great success treating dangerous diseases with a new generation of drugs—the antibiotics and their relatives—support for homeopathy waned. In more recent years it has regained favour, partly because of the known support of homeopathy by the British Royal Family. |
| Numerous herbal and homeopathic proprietary lines, such as nux vomica, lycopodium and china, are available from health food stores to improve bowel function, but do avoid using laxatives on a long-term basis. Your aim should be to achieve daily bowel function naturally, not through medications.
Dairy foods have a high protein content as well as containing essential vitamins and minerals, particularly calcium. However, research has indicated that eating dairy foods from cows tends to lead to over-production of mucus in the respiratory passages of some people, which obstructs their breathing. |
| The ever-increasing sales of homeopathic remedies through pharmacies are evidence that its popularity is growing strongly at present.
Biochemical Tissue Salts
In the late 1800s Dr William Schuessler, a German physician, originated what he called a biochemic system of medicine. He identified 12 'tissue salts' which he claimed were vital for health and could cure simple, everyday ailments. Schuessler believed that not only was disease an unnatural condition and at variance with the intentions of nature, but that within the body itself were the most potent weapons in the battle against disease. |

Copaiba Balsam is obsolete as a drug, however, it is still used in some homeopathic preparations.
PRECAUTIONS AND ADVERSE REACTIONS
The drug is irritating to the mucous membranes. Toxic in large amounts. Stomach pains appear after the intake of 5 gm of the drug, repeated doses bring about summer cholera, shivers, tremor, pains in the groin, and insomnia. Skin contact can lead to contact dermatitis (erythema, papular or vesicular rash, urticaria, petechias, occasionally the rashes heal leaving brown spots).

In fact, creative homeopathic entrepreneurs across Europe were soon selling kits specifically designed for outward-bound colonists and empire-builders. The rising popularity of homeopathy was noted by the Anglo-Indian press, one journal observing in 1852 that homeopathy was 'extensively practiced by amateurs, in the civil and military services'. By the very nature of empire, enthusiasts in these two groups were to be found in even the most remote outposts of empire. |

Food Allergies
Most people think that seasonal allergies and food allergies (or sensitivities) are two distinctly different things. Guess again. Seasonal allergies are definitely aggravated by food allergies.
Starbuck told me about an eight-year-old kid who was brought into her office by his mother, who said, "He's got really bad allergies this year!" Starbuck took a history and found out that the kid had had dairy allergies when he was younger, but according to the mother, "not anymore. |

A few weeks later, I recommended she begin taking a green drink of freshly blended lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) in daily doses of 2-3 liquid ounces with food in addition to her tinctures and homeopathic remedy. In 3 months her T4 was 50% lower at 113, but her TSH was still<0.03. She continued the treatment plan for another 5 months until her THS and T4 were in the normal range. She stopped all herbs and the homeopathic remedy, and her endocrinologist declared her cured. |

This treatment, which is not medically sound but is most commonly used to dissolve fat and improve cellulite, is based on receiving injections that are either homeopathic or pharmaceutical. Strangely, there isn't necessarily any consistency, and the cocktail of ingtedients can vary from practitioner to practitioner, which makes this treatment very hard to evaluate (and just because something is popular in Europe doesn't mean it's the global standatd. After all, many Europeans still relish sunbathing). |

When you talked a little bit about homeopathic factors, there may be things we do not quite understand yet about all of this. We use the term "growth factor" but we are not sure exactly how that is working and what it means.
One of the most interesting findings in research with autistic children is the role of mercury. Many experts clearly feel that mercury is a major problem in autism. You cannot get the mercury out with anything that is known. You try to and do DMSA and whatever, and they cannot get it out. |

I do not know if you are comfortable with me using this term, but almost like there is a homeopathic pattern to the source of the RNA, that is then broadcast to the person who is taking that in so that it can reform with that same kind of energy. Is that too far out there for our discussion, or what?
Dr. Liers: No, I think there may be an element of that. I was looking on the Internet, and I found a product from England, where they were using RNA and "cell therapy," they called it, and it had these growth factors in it. |
| This product was a nasal spray, which would be more in accordance with the thought that there is some homeopathic element to it. Maybe that is not the exact word to describe it, but if the body just gets a sense of a little bit of it, it says, "Whoopee! Now we can go into business."
Dr. Frank spoke about this at length. He knew that the RNA was not going in, but he knew the results he was getting. He was saying that same thing. Sometimes you can get a few percent in across the gut. It is like chondroitin sulfate. People said, "No, you never get any in. |

Our clinic obtained MSA equipment (then termed "Interro") and used it for allergy/sensitivity testing and as a guide to appropriate homeopathic treatment to desensitize allergies. The first few cases were children with ADHD, who were greatly relieved (as were their parents) that no needles were involved.
Nearly a year later, a physician who "couldn't believe" that either MSA testing or MSA-guided homeopathic desensitization "could possibly work" joined our clinic. He phoned one mother who "confirmed" that, indeed, MSA hadn't worked for her child. |

The quiet, behind-closed-doors practice of using medicinal herbs, homeopathic remedies, nutritional supplements or even Bach Flower Remedies will be tolerated... for now.
But then, one day a new tyrant will lead the FDA, and he (it's always a HE) will interpret the CAM Guidelines in a new way. He'll say the guidelines clearly spell out that the FDA should be regulating ALL naturopathic remedies in order to "protect consumers. |

And finally, write your Senator or Congressperson about this issue and let them know, in blatant language, that you will not stand by and allow the criminals running medicine today to take away your access to vitamins, supplements, herbs and homeopathic medicine. Write the letter in your own words, even if it's just two sentences. Individual letters have a hundred times the impact of form letters.
Medical wasteland USA
Everything is at stake here. |
| Functional foods, supplements, vitamins and homeopathic remedies will disappear from store shelves, pending FDA "review." (The only things remaining will be processed junk foods and pharmaceuticals, which is exactly what Big Business wants.)
Therapeutic tea products, such as green tea, will be outlawed and confiscated.
Vitamin store owners will be arrested and prosecuted for "practicing medicine without a license. |
| If you wish to protect your access to nutritional supplements, herbs, essential oils, homeopathic medicine or any other "complementary" or "alternative" modality, it is crucial that you take action to post your comments with the FDA right now and write your representatives in Washington to put a stop to this outrageous effort to destroy natural medicine. (And be sure to really write them. Just sending an email has virtually no impact compared to writing a physical letter in your own words.)

These side effects are not—repeat not— associated with the over-the-counter homeopathic arnica remedies you can buy in the store, and are certainly not associated with the topical application of arnica. The Physicians Desk Reference for Herbal Medicines says that when applied topically, arnica preparations have demonstrated "wound healing, antiseptic, and mild analgesic properties." Just don't ingest the whole plant—or parts of it—in some homemade version.
Don't take arnica when you're pregnant, and don't put the topical preparations on broken skin. |

Many people respond well to homeopathic medicines. Coldcalm by Boiron works well for colds, and many people swear by Oscillococcinum for the flu. Boericke and Tafel makes an excellent cough syrup called B & T homeopathic Cough and Bronchial Syrup.

There are quite a few tea mixtures that can help with cold/flu symptoms. Chamomile tea works well and Celestial Seasonings' Sleepytime tea contains chamomile and other soothing and relaxing herbs. The same company makes Mama Bear's Cold Care tea, which is mostly peppermint and licorice and works well for soothing a cough. |
