Just as homeopathic water has a scientifically proven effect in living systems (including humans and animals), the homeopathic quality of foods also has such an effect. This is not something that has been well studied. The information you're getting here is probably 10 to 15 years ahead of science, but someday I have no doubt that the homeopathic qualities of foods will someday be recognized and measured and will ultimately be found to be very important to the health effects of those foods. |

It's important to understand this because the only time arnica is safe when taken orally is in a legitimate homeopathic preparation. Taken orally in any other way it can cause some really nasty side effects. No kidding. (The Physicians Desk Reference for Nutritional Supplements lists nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, coma, and death, if you really want to know.)
These side effects are not—repeat not— associated with the over-the-counter homeopathic arnica remedies you can buy in the store, and are certainly not associated with the topical application of arnica. |

I'm talking about the energy of foods, because foods have a homeopathic quality. Every product you choose to consume has an energy; you could call it a feeling. A food that is grown in nature -- that has been born in the soil and grows up under the sun with clean air, clean water, clean soils and under the care of small organic family farmers who used care and honesty -- creates love, health and connection in your body. Just as homeopathic water has a scientifically proven effect in living systems (including humans and animals), the homeopathic quality of foods also has such an effect. |

The homeopathy of plants
There's something I call the homeopathy of plants. homeopathic medicine is something that has now been proven to be scientifically verifiable. Water has memory, and if you consume water that has been energized with the right elements, it can have a physiological effect on your body.
Plants are also made primarily with water, so the water in the plant has homeopathic properties as well. The question is what the homeopathic properties of the water in the plants are. |

In other words, those who seek homeopathic treatments are putting their faith in spiritlike therapeutic power that ostensibly defies our laws of science. My advice: Proceed with equal parts caution and open-mindedness if you elect to pursue homeopathic treatments.
Chiropractic
Unlike homeopathy, chiropractic treatment has made its way more successfully into the mainstream and has succeeded in achieving some degree of tolerance by Western medicine. |

| For theflu, I recommend the following homeopathic treatments...
•Homeopathic influenzinum. Made from active flu strains, this stimulates the body's own defense system to resist infection. It can be used for the prevention or treatment of flu and has no side effects.
Take two 30C-potency pellets twice daily for two weeks at the beginning of flu season (in early November). Take two pellets four times daily when exposed to people who have the flu or if you start to have symptoms. It is available at health-food stores and some pharmacies. |

Cantharis is the most commonly effective homeopathic medicine in treating those with urinary tract infections. Patients who need Cantharis have a frequent, strong urge to urinate, and a great deal of burning is felt during urination. The patient may be compelled to rush to the toilet, and the urgency may be such that she loses urine before she gets there. Despite the intolerable urging, however, urine may pass in drops only. Strong urging may be felt immediately after voiding or even while the patient is urinating. |
| Usually vomiting associated with other infections is mild and happens only once or twice, but if the vomiting itself requires treatment, the advice in the
"General Home Care" section should be followed. homeopathic treatment should be based on the overall symptom picture no matter what the name of the disease. If a cold or ear infection is accompanied by significant vomiting, try to find the one remedy that best covers all of the person's symptoms.
Children vomit easily. Their digestive tracts generally are more sensitive than adults'. |
| Belladonna is the most commonly indicated homeopathic medicine during the early stages of an ear infection or earache, especially when the illness begins suddenly with few prior cold symptoms. Within an hour or two, the child is in intense pain. He may have had a watery runny nose for a short while, but the mucus isn't cloudy, colored, or thick. The outer ear, ear canal, or eardrum may be bright red, but pus hasn't formed and the eardrum is still normally shaped. A sudden high fever (see the description of Belladonna fevers in chapter 3) often begins about the same time as the earache. |

She started a homeopathic constitutional remedy (Pulsatilla 30).
A few weeks later, I recommended she begin taking a green drink of freshly blended lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) in daily doses of 2-3 liquid ounces with food in addition to her tinctures and homeopathic remedy. In 3 months her T4 was 50% lower at 113, but her TSH was still<0.03. She continued the treatment plan for another 5 months until her THS and T4 were in the normal range. She stopped all herbs and the homeopathic remedy, and her endocrinologist declared her cured. |

HOMEOPATHY
This condition can vary in severity from a minor cosmetic nuisance to a major problem that causes a great deal of distress in the form of irritation and aching, and homeopathic support needs to be appropriate to the needs of the situation. The following advice is geared towards alleviating the discomfort of varicose veins that only surface infrequently, and are mild in nature. |

Naming prominent 'regular' names with abandon, one homeopath wrote, 'Black, Thorowgood and many others recommend bits of homeopathic practice without mentioning the hated word. Wilks filches from us while he abuses us.'25
In Britain and Germany, as in the US, medical professionals at the mid-century fought hard to re-establish a single orthodoxy and to imbue it with social, legal, and moral standing. |
| In Europe too, homeopathy was no short-lived fad; it was the system of choice for the British upper classes and gained royal patronage amongst Victoria's many offspring (patronage that homeopathy still retains today, with London's homeopathic Hospital still operating under the Queen's warrant). As regularly trained William Kingdon (1789?863) reported in an 1827 speech to his medical brethren, patient demand was essential to the spread of homeopathy—and perhaps the most important force in the creation of converts from within the medical profession itself. |
| For example, as he recited these stereotypes of femininity and invited women into the homeopathic profession, Wilkinson also claimed for homeopathy the purity that had become a 'feminine' trait. And by likening allopathy to slavery, he sought to harness the campaigning morality that had emerged as such a powerful weapon in abolitionism:
Woman ... is the pillar of Homeopathy; she first saw the horrors of the old system in her own nursery among her loved ones; she has first experienced the blessing of the new. |

However, a tendency to develop severe and/or frequent flare ups of this condition requires professional homeopathic attention. A practitioner will address the underlying imbalance in the system that leaves the patient vulnerable to ongoing episodes.
Urtica: Bathe itchy, stinging, irritated areas in a solution of diluted Urtica tincture (one part of tincture to 10 parts of water). Urtica cream, available from herbal stores, can also be applied as a salve to reduce irritation, itchiness, and inflammation. |
| To treat varicose veins that appear to be escalating from a moderate nuisance to a more major condition, seek advice and treatment from an experienced homeopathic practitioner.
Prevention: The best way to prevent varicose veins from appearing in the legs is to avoid putting undue pressure on vulnerable areas. To achieve this, cross the legs at the ankle rather than the knee. Avoid standing for long periods at a time, but walk as much as possible to stimulate circulation in the legs. |

HOMEOPATHY
This condition falls into the chronic category and is best treated by a homeopathic practitioner who will prescribe at a level that is beyond the scope of anything you can do at home. Treatment will aim to gently but effectively stimulate the body's self-regulating, self-balancing mechanism so that symptoms are less likely to be a problem. Acute remedies can be used in the short term to temporarily relieve severe episodes of allergic rhinitis, but they will not discourage symptoms from recurring. |

Any established tendency to develop warts should be treated by an experienced homeopathic practitioner, who will aim to eradicate the tendency from inside. A minor, recently developed wart can benefit from the following treatments. Also refer to the advice given to treat plantar warts (p. 120).
Nitric ac: This is a suitable remedy for warts that are cauliflower-shaped and have a dry texture. Warts may produce sharp, sticking pains, be very sensitive to the touch, and bleed readily after touching or washing. |

Any of the following measures can be used to relieve the itchiness of a recent, mild bout of pruritus, but more established symptoms will require professional homeopathic attention. If the condition persists, seek conventional medical attention.
Prevention: Women who are subject to itchy vulvas and irritation should avoid highly perfumed bubble baths, and wearing clothing that creates a warm, moist environment around the genital area. Common offenders are thongs, tights, leggings, and very tight jeans. |

| Naturopathic and homeopathic physicians are also good sources for information.
Vitamin supplement catalogs, internet sites for supplements, pyramid schemes with membership fees and rewards, and local over-the-counter products are not usually the best choice for beginning an education in alternative medicine.
As with pharmaceutical preparations, every supplement a patient takes should be thoroughly researched. The credentials of the manufacturer, as well as the purity, potency, safety, and possible side effects of the products for sale, should be known by the user. |

The symptoms on which a homeopathic prescription is based are not necessarily the symptoms of the disease, but the way the individual patient experiences the symptoms. The symptoms may even have no obvious connection with the disease. The most important groups of symptoms the homeopath looks at are mental, emotional, fears, cravings and aversions. Other symptoms include reactions to the weather and external conditions, the effects of heat and cold, lifestyle and work-related pressures, and so on. |

In addition, one of the three flowers that had matched Peter's blood sample also matched the Flaviviridae virus imprint, so using the homeopathic logic that like treats like, Peter thought that the flower might provide a remedy in treating the disease. Following that lead, Peter concocted a medicinal using that flower extract and began taking it.
Within ten days, he developed a flulike response to the remedy. He knew that was a good thing. |
| He gathered thousands of ampoules, which contained the homeopathic, or energetic, imprints of just about everything of importance in the body.5 He had ampoules representing nearly two hundred different kinds of cells and various kinds of tissues, from skin to gut to brain samples, and blood, enzymes, hormones, and the like. He had amassed droves of minerals and elements from calcium to potassium to zinc, and he had samples of environmental chemicals and toxins. |
| Of these corrective substances, only the NES remedy directly corrects any distotted phase shift relationship affecting the Energetic Integrators; all the others, such as herbs or homeopathic remedies, produce indirect corrections to the body-field.) The adaptation point, then, is crucial to homeostasis, for it either supports or hampers the body from regulating itself. |
| In homeopathy, a method of making homeopathic remedies through a process of shaking and dilution. Minute particles of matter, chosen for their healing attributes, are suspended in water, and then the mixture is put through a series of dilutions and succussions until only the imprint of the energetic signature of the substance, rather than the physical substance itself, is left in the solution. superposition of states: The state in which quantum entities take on all possible allowable characteristics until measured or otherwise constrained. |
| Acupuncture and homeopathy are practiced widely in Asia and Europe (Britain, for example, has at least four exclusively homeopathic hospitals) and are slowly gaining acceptance in the United States and elsewhere. Today, there is growing interest in these unconventional techniques and theories because science is beginning to discover that although chemistry has been wildly successful at explaining many of the mechanisms of the body, it is not adequate by itself to the task of explaining the integrative workings of the body. |
